Reveal the Hidden Competence

A programme for foreign-born academics living in North West Skåne

In spring 2026, the City of Helsingborg, together with local partners, launched Reveal the Hidden Competences (RHC) – a pilot initiative supporting unemployed, highly qualified international residents in North West Skåne into employment.

The programme connects foreign-born academics with concrete recruitment needs in the local business sector. Through structured matching and practical skills validation in a workplace setting, participants are linked to a specific skills need at a host company. Each placement combines training and targeted support.

Two programme rounds are offered in 2026: spring and autumn.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be registered with Arbetsförmedlingen
  • Hold an academic qualification and have relevant experience
  • Live in North West Skåne

Programme Structure

Participants are matched to a defined competence need and offered a tailored trainee placement with a host employer. The placement includes training before the placement, ongoing follow-up, and personalised support. A successful match may lead to employment.

The initiative is professional in nature and includes clear expectations regarding responsibility, performance, and active participation.

After the Trainee Period

The primary objective is employment with the host employer. If employment is not secured, participants leave with documented experience from a Swedish workplace, relevant references, and a strengthened position in the labour market.

Funding and Partnerships

The programme is co-funded by Region Skåne and delivered in collaboration with the Labour Market Administration at Helsingborgs stad, WOW Foundations Sverige, Helsingborg International Connections, Tent Sverige, and DreamTalent.
